Privacy policy
This site keeps as little about you as it can. The only personal information it handles is what you choose to send us through the contact form.
Who we are
Kittiwake Software is a sole trader based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, and is responsible for the information described on this page. Questions about it go to hello@kittiwakesoftware.co.uk.
What the site does not do
The site sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no embedded video or social media. The typeface is served from this site rather than from Google or anyone else.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, we receive:
- your name
- your email address
- your message
- the date and time you sent it
We use these to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation. That is in our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or, if you are asking about work, it is a step you have asked us to take before any contract. We don't use your details for marketing, and we don't sell or share them.
Each message is saved in a database hosted by Cloudflare in Western Europe, and a copy is emailed to our inbox. We don't keep your IP address with it.
How long we keep it
Messages in the database are deleted automatically twelve months after they arrive. Emails are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and keep sensible business records, then deleted. Ask, and we'll delete yours sooner.
Spam protection
The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending the form. To do that, Cloudflare looks at technical details such as your IP address and browser. It uses them only to spot bots and to improve how it does that, and it doesn't pass them on to us. Turnstile runs on the contact page and nowhere else.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and keep the site safe from attack, Cloudflare handles your IP address and the details your browser sends with each request. It keeps short-lived logs of this, which we can look at for up to a week to fix problems. Cloudflare is a US company, and some of this may be handled outside the UK. Cloudflare's data processing terms include the safeguards UK law requires for that.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. Email hello@kittiwakesoftware.co.uk and we'll reply within a month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes
If the site ever starts collecting anything else, this page will change first and say so plainly. It is dated below so you can tell.
